GoodGuide is looking for a Research Associate to help us evaluate the environmental and health impacts of a wide variety of consumer product categories, ranging from home cleaning products to consumer electronics. We are seeking a Masters level environmental scientist familiar with supply chain and life-cycle assessment techniques to guide our entry into new product categories. The individual will work collaboratively with the other members of our science team, which includes PhDs in environmental health science, environmental engineering and nutrition.

DUTIES
• Research new product categories for ratings development: identify existing rating systems in use in a category, characterize the impact landscape of that category, and acquire relevant data;
• Develop screening-level criteria for evaluating and scoring key impact categories and assist in the development of GoodGuide product and company ratings;
• Utilize the impact assessment and ratings methods developed by GoodGuide’s science team;
• Assist in the development of user-friendly presentations of complex data;
• Engage external stakeholders, including academics, NGOs, government officials, and industry.

REQUIREMENTS
• Masters degree in environmental science discipline relevant to product impact assessment;
• Experience with some or all of the following research methods: life cycle assessment, environmental impact assessment, or multi-attribute decision analysis;
• Superior analytical prowess to distill complex data into user-friendly information;
• Strong multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment;
• Willingness to tackle complex technical problems with rigorous, but flexible methods;
• Creative thinker and problem solver who applies science to solving real-world problems;
